One of the best times to go out to celebrate is during a Noreaster storm: lounge spaces are cozier with the vast amounts of water hurled down (and sideways) outdoors and convenient parking, vacated, likely due to the weather, is quickly available nearby prime destinations.
This recent winner of Boston’s Best French Cuisine is becoming a favorite spot for B and I to sit and chat over tea, coffee, and interesting seasonal desserts. The first time (second, technically – the first time was a long parking spot hunt, after the Marathon and they were closing early) we went, we roamed the neighborhood for parking for a long while and then settled down to to celebrate 14 months married by enjoying a couple of cappucinos, a dramatic trio of sorbets (strawberry hibiscus, cherry, and peach) and an innovative Blueberry Fields dessert (NY style cheesecake, blueberry crumble, candied violet petals, basil sorbet, yuzu glaze). This time, we came to try the fall dessert menu and celebrate 16 months.
I didn’t take photos last time, so I made a little extra effort this time to share this chill and sophisticated spot with you.
Although we opted to not try the sorbets (huckleberry, quince, and one other I forgot) and ice creams “glace” (vanilla, almond, tonka bean), we tried the following.
- Crème Brûlée
Vanilla Crème, French Roast Coffee Glace
- White Chocolate & Spiced Pumpkin Soufflé
Meringue Cream, Confectioners’ Sugar, Ginger Anglaise
We loved the creme brulee – it was creamy and had great flavor, and the bruleed top was perfect. The coffee ice cream was sweet and flavorful as well. The souffle was less loved. It had great spice flavor and the ginger anglaise brought out the best in the dessert.
Along the lines of tea, I am becoming quite a fan of English Breakfast (at all different times of day).
I took mine with honey and steamed milk in these ADORABLE metal cartons.

-pleasant high-top table lounge with grey, stone, and marble accents.
-pleasant music that doesn’t interfere with the meal and isn’t loud.
-People of all ages – including kids – go (although I need to ask about a kid’s menu).
-coat hooks, added unobtrusively but conveniently in
-tealights!
-nice servingware
-great service
We’ll be back again, either to try another season’s special sweets, or else to sample their highly-rated menu. Yum!
