Daybreaker BOS – Get up and Dance!

How’s your #FITFRIDAY starting out? Do you ever wonder what it would be like to jump into an adventure with people you don’t know, without abandon, and come out of it feeling happy? That is what I experienced jumping onto my yoga mat at Boston’s iconic Fenway Park for an event by Daybreaker Boston & New Balance Boston.  #ThisisBoston #morningmischief #wellness

What’s Daybreaker, you ask? It is a worldwide movement which is a combo of wellness-community-music-mischief. They are in 16+ countries and recently started a campus version. I especially like the energy, wellness intention, and drive for fitness and healthy eats that they encourage. Let’s get moving!

Boston-based New Balance generously invited me to get my fit on before work by working out on the deck of Fenway Park. The same week as celebrated Opening Day for the Boston Red Sox, the energy at Fenway was something special that morning. Daybreaker BOS also fell on the weekend before the Boston Marathon (read about my special experience volunteering at the Marathon this year!), and it felt special to be able to celebrate fitness in my own way although I was not running.

I arrived at 5:45 am for a 6 am workout. The sky was just beginning to brighten. As I climbed the stairs, my excitement mounted as well. On the way up, Daybreaker volunteers greeted each person with at least 1 hug. Instead of it being weird to have a smiling stranger, pumped to be up early in the morning in the cold, give me a hug, it warmed me up and was the perfect beginning to a friendly community event. Have you ever seen Fenway like this? It is incredible — so peaceful.

It was cold – about 40 F, but after about 20 minutes of movement, all the layers came off and we were moving along.

Yoga with @aly_ramer and a workout with @kickitbyeliza were options, and I chose yoga as the sun finished rising across the eastern sky over the Prudential tower.

We each had bluetooth headphones to listen to the music and instructions for the workout; the morning was peaceful outside of the headphones and did not disturb the neighborhood.

Now. For the party:

People are just starting to arrive to the dance floor…

Drink Maple, High Brew Coffee, and Sweetgreen were three of the sponsors I liked that were in attendance. We could sit and enjoy the sun and view, sip something nice, take photos, and hang out. Maple water has a lot of great minerals, and I like the iced cold brew coffees from High Brew Coffee (with flavors like mexican vanilla, double espresso) . Sweetgreen brought matcha green juice which was a refreshing taste. In addition to hydration (no alcohol here) and caffeination, the energy is high with a dance party following the workout leaving you with enough time to get on to work with a fresh intention for the day.

I met up with two other bloggers, Style Wire and Boston Chic Party, and we did a neat Boston photobooth photo together.

Here I am, loving the New Balance gear and representing Boston with my well-loved cap- the asymmetrical anorak is SO cute, and I’ve since been running around town in my Fresh Foam Zante v3s in Black.

A big thanks to Daybreaker, New Balance US, and Fenway Park for putting together this historic event at Fenway Park! I hope you had fun touring this adventure with me :).
