Bar Harbor Maine + Comfy Chic Travel Outfit

gazebo, shop the comfy chic style of travel blogger bluebootsgo's look featuring athleta, madewell, and new balance!

Looking for a comfy outfit to travel in? We just went on a weekend trip with friends to a house up in Great Cranberry Island and it was in the 50s in June!

The fog was beautiful and I was glad to NOT have the sun beating down on us as we climbed and scrambled through the blue trail at Acadia National Park. For exploring local Maine villages like Bar Harbor and Portland, I grabbed a few of my favorite clothes for the cool Northern summer, spring, or fall temperatures – they’re versatile. As we went from Bar Harbor to Portland, the temperature rose steadily to 80 degrees, so off came the sweatshirt! When traveling, expert layering is required to achieve maximal comfort :).

Here are my picks from this outfit:

This sweatshirt is long so it covers my waist and is snug. The pockets are perfect for holding essentials so that I don’t need a bag, and it is nice to pull a snug hood over my head in case of mist or light rain. The reflectors make it so that I’ll feel safe exploring in low lighting too! I like the thumb holes because they ensure that if needed, I could put a shell on over without getting my sleeves stuck, plus, they keep my wrists warm so that I don’t need gloves for more serious windy, inclement weather (i.e. while climbing a mountain…)

These jeans boast “magic pockets” to tuck everywhere that needs a little tuck and lift. I love this wash color for summer!

Most of my sneakers are brightly colored, so I’m happy with this lightweight, classic black and blue version that instantly makes comfy go with more outfits. They’re easy to travel with.
