Am       C        Am         C

For the joy set before Him,

G                 Am

He endured the cross

Despising the shame.

Christ saw the church and loved Her,

Am        Em

And loved Her…

Lord, in these days

C                 E                       F

Make us those who’re ready

C               Em            F         Am-F-Am

Prepare our hearts, today

F      E             C

We’d hear your call,

Am   G    Am

Respond to your voice and consecrate

Am             Em   C

To bring You back,

Am             G      C

To bring You back.

I wrote most of this tune in January, and as it has happened in the past year or so, I have a clear sense whether lyrics are coming or not: in January, they were not meant to come so I left it until I found it again today and the words came as a prayer.   The lyrics are inspired from the burden of a conference I was at this past weekend. I helped by driving a few girls down to NYC and spent this past Easter weekend with hundreds of high school and junior high kids who were from many places: Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Virginia, and Connecticut attending a young people’s conference entitled “Do Business Until I Come,” which is taken from the verse Luke 19:13 in the Bible.

I love scriptural songs with a prayer – they help us to learn the scriptures, and cause us to turn our hearts to pray. Often I have heard emphasis on the first part of Hebrews 12:2, which says: Looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith…” but until this conference, I did not pay too much attention to the absolutely precious second half, from which this song is inspired. (Soon, the messages will be posted on http://www.ageturners.com. I highly recommend you listen to Messages 4 and 7.) The conference itself was a wake up call for me, and caused me to realize what kind of a time that we are living in, and to set my priorities straight. This song is my prayer, and I hope it would be yours as well, realizing how short time is and knowing the heart of our God. If you don’t yet see it, as I am only beginning to see, keep praying to see what is on God’s heart concerning the Church – what it is, why Christ loves the Church and gave Himself up for her, and how you are (it is a fact) a part of that joy that Christ saw as He was on the cross, dying for you and for me.

The recording is posted under the “Songs” tab if you wish to learn it. The quality of the recording is poor, but I hope it would give you an idea of how it goes and give you another prayer to sing to God. God bless.
