I had the distinct pleasure in September of sampling a feast of fresh new items arriving to Cafe Landwer’s fall menu, prepared by chefs flown in from Israel to cook for us during a whirlwind trip. With two locations on Beacon Street (one by St. Mary’s Street in Brookline, and the other by major transportation center …
I really don’t say such bold statements about things, but after you hear this story, you probably will agree – you need this.

We just got back from an epic journey through the Gulf Coast (#bluebootsgogulfcoasttour) and I knew it was going to be hotttttt. Last night, I pooled the inspiration I’ve been absorbing via osmosis on many foodie adventures in Chicago and stacked my culinary hopes on a pound of chicken breast. Without a kitchen assistant (aka a sous chef) it took 35 minutes to prepare and get a Weeknight Fancy Italian Chicken Fettucine on the plate using only ingredients I …

I’ve been in this degree program for about 6 years, and while I’m looking at the end of this stage of my education soon, I wanted to share some tips and thoughts that might be helpful to someone considering a Ph.D., or earlier in their journey. The idea is to help one another to think about what makes you be the best version of you while you are in your Ph.D. I really hope it will be at least a little helpful to someone. If there are any questions you all have about being in a Ph.D., send me a note and I can see if I can field it. #community
Although we had 60s weather that even went up to 73 last week, this week we are back down to 0 with the wind chill. Spring is coming in about a couple of weeks, but we can’t put our winter things away quite yet! This is how I got through the cold – an excellent waterproof coat, bright warm accessories, and these light snow booties (now on sale, and extra sale).

Flavor alchemy is one of my favorite parts of being in the kitchen. This recipe has been waiting in the wings, and we had it tonight – it was terrific. Juicy, savory, with a hint of sweetness and tartness. Take a journey to a different place with these family-friendly Middle Eastern “tacos” that are truly delicious.

Although I don’t keep a daily journal, when I was told about a special and inspiring campaign about personal growth, intentions, and motivation I was IN. Just in time as people’s New Year’s resolutions start to wane and become a source of frustration and doubt, Boston-based New Balance comes in with “Letters To My Future Self” which launches today, January 17, 2017. They’re sharing powerful words written by athletes who open their personal goals and values that drive them forward on their journeys in life. You can read about their inspiration, and even see short films about them, but most importantly, there’s a small but truly powerful way you can commit to yourself this year – write your own letter to your future self. You’re your own best coach, folks. I’m sharing my letter below and invite you to join me in participating!

We had a small warm winter welcome to finish off 2016, and the centerpiece of our meal was a lovely, nitrate and nitrite-free holiday ham, courtesy of Whole Foods. B had the idea of serving it in a new and different way – with a chutney – and I put my pen to paper and brainstormed flavors that make up this delightful Winter Chutney, filled with winter fruits and spices. Here’s how to make this fragrant and delicious accompaniment (you can add it to ham, turkey, oatmeal, or even vanilla ice cream!)

See step-by-step instructions on how to DIY a Facial Steam and open up to your very own relaxing, wellness moment. Cheers to 2017 with a renewed face set to the new year!
Lip balm is an essential, year round. This time of year, I’m loving Moroccan Magic’s peppermint eucalyptus lip balm for the minty pick-me-up scent. I wanted to make sure you all knew about this USDA organic lip balm made with moroccan argan oil, which makes this smooth product my current fav that I don’t leave the house without. Safe lip balm is a big deal – if you use lip products, you basically eat pounds of lip balm a year. If they’re laden with chemicals, that is NOT ok. Be inspired for the new year to up your wellness game!
